The message provided in this book is powerful and if taken can and will change your marriage. It is unfortunate that the author did not take as much care in editing. Rather was misspelled as rafter throughout and capital letters were not used in a majority of the beginning of sentences. This detracts from an otherwise valuable book.
If I could give Called to Love 10 Stars, I would because this is the instruction manual on not just marriage, but relationships! Alisa DiLorenzo illustrates relationships through the filter of the words of Jesus, the greatest expert on relationships! His mission here on Earth was literally a rescue plan to bring people into relationship. The truth is many marriages and relationships fail because people come in with the wrong agenda and the wrong expectations. Jesus is the only one who can bring us into right relationship, with purity of heart, and singleness of mind! His walk on Earth and the words that he spoke help us navigate through times when relationships are messy and full heartache, trials, temptations, disunity, defeat and even infidelity but also through the times of celebrations, promotions and winning. Called to Love is by far the best illustration of the connection Jesus intended to have with his bride, which enable us to be successful in relationships and marriage. As a single person, it impacted me tremendously and I feel so prepared and full of faith to embark on the journey of marriage knowing that Jesus holds the keys to my successful future. Thank you, Alisa for your stewardship of the wisdom, knowledge, strength and transparency that God has given and uniquely chosen you for this assignment. This book will change the course of marriage and relationships across the globe!
I was so excited when, "Called to Love" was released. I've been a huge fan of Alisa and Tony for a long time. I love this book because it has opened my eyes to what my marriage can be, what it should be. Not only is it an easy read, but it speaks to me every time. I love that it includes a verse, real and relate-able stories, a thoughtful and powerful prayer and a section to take notes. I've used this section to include additional prayers, notes to my spouse and phrases that stood out to me in the devotional. I'm so glad Alisa decided to write this book. I really am starting to see my husband through the eyes of Jesus. My husband has yet to read it with me yet, but I think he can already see the change in me. Which is what it's all about, right? The change has to happen with us first. I've able to share this book with friends, family and even gave a few away at a Mother's Day event recently. It makes a great gift and I recommend every married couple read it. I always find myself wanting more. It will definitely be something I read over and over again as there's always something new to learn!
I would wholeheartedly give Called to Love a five star rating on content but there are a few minor typos which do not take away from the book. This The book is well written and the audio version is read by the author Alisa DiLorenzo. If you're familiar with the podcast One Extraordinary Marriage you will recognize Alisa. The audio version is a great addition to complement The book.
I have not finished reading this book and will update my review when I have finished reading it.
Called to Love is intended to be read over 40 days with time to pray and Journal your journey. And it is a journey. If you let the words and the Holy Spirit touch your heart it will be life-changing and life-giving to your marriage. You did not need to be religious to read this book. Just really listen to what the words of Jesus is telling you. This is a book of hope and real life changing lessons.
This book is a calling and a labor of love. I am so grateful for how it is blessing my marriage already.
